Comments and Assignments
Welcome to phys1111. Your first assignment is to familiarize yourself with this web space, and the Vista/WebCT course management tool. You can access Vista at http://vista.usg.edu . Once logged in you should have a "phys1111" course appear .
You are in either section a or b. HOWEVER, WE WILL ALL BE USING ONE MERGED SECTION IN VISTA). IT IS LISTED AS BOTH A and B.
Your login name should be the same as for Elroy or Pipeline. Usually first initial and then last name (if not sure do a search on the ASU home page. You can find names on the ASU home page (http://www.aug.edu ) at the email link/DIRECTORY. Your password STARTS BY DEFAULT your "Elroy or Astro" registration pin number! If you have not used this it defaults to your birthdate (six digit, format...month, day, year).
NOTE: PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING SEEMS TO WORK BETTER IN INTERNET EXPLORER.
Once into VISTA and our course, we use two features. Online quizzes and discussions. These count. The online quizzes can be viewed as often as you like, but you may submit answers only once. You must first "Save" your answers, and then "finish" (meaning submit).
NOTE THAT I HAVE PRINTABLE VERSIONS OF THE QUIZZES, JUST FOR VIEWING LINKED ON THE WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS PAGE. YOU CAN NOT SUBMIT A QUIZ FROM THAT LOCATION, BUT ONLY FROM "WEBCT/VISTA".
For now complete the following:
TASK 1. Post a message within the first discussion
folder. This can be a reply to my message welcoming you to the course.
TASK 2. Complete quiz1. due by Aug. 25
TASK 3. Browse around on this website to familiarize yourself with tools I provide.
TASK 4. Start reading Chs. 1 and 2, prepare for quiz2 (online quizzes come up almost every other day for summer). Quiz2 due by Aug. 29
There will be a short in class quiz on Tuesday August 29th (Ch. 1 and 2 basics). Do not show up late. (I WILL NOT HAND OUT QUIZZES LATE).
You should be working on reading the ch. 1 material as needed. Read all of ch. 2. See the suggested problems links for the first couple of chapters.
