Exam3 on Tuesday Nov. 21.  Covers chs 10,11, 13 (all rotation topics, springs/pendulums) and gravitation.

Exam 3 comments: 

Torque due to gravity on a uniform object.  Moment of inertia about a given axis for given masses.  Mass on a spring.    How fast for rolling object.  Grav. accel at distance from given planet.

Object rolls down ramp.  Use torque to find acceleration.  Relate speed at the bottom to moment of inertia.  What part of the energy is rotational.   Mass on spring.  Period, and spring constant, speed at some location.  Amplitude.  KE at some location.

Angular momentum of a system.  Angular speed, given info to find moment of inertia.  New conditions --find ang mom, moment of inertia, KE.

Gravitational accel. Orbit a planet, how fast, force on a mass, speed for a different set of conditions.
