Assignment 5 (Sept. 18)
Exam 1 during class Thursday Sept. 21
The test will cover chs. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. (Ch. 1 material was considered review). We will not be covering friction and circular motion from ch. 6.
Quiz 5 is due after the exam, but you should still look at and think about.
Basic concepts to know for exam. Vector addition and components. 1Dim kinematic equations. Graphs. 2Dim projectile motion. Force problems (ramps, gravity, elevators, atwood, modified atwood......) This may not be a complete list, but is a start.
Heads up description of test. Comments made on "week4" look for that. I'll provide a clean equation sheet. Our class is tightly packed, and I can tell when errors are copied exactly. DON'T. AUTOMATIC F.
Be able to interpret a one dim. kinematics graph (acceleration or velocity or position vs. time). Find velocity or acceleration for projectile motion. Given an initial speed and stopping distance find acceleration. BE ABLE TO ADD FORCE VECTORS. Average speed.
Projectile motion problem. Initial v components. When is it at ground. Where does it hit.
One dim straight up. How fast to get to .....When does it get back down. Velocity and accel at some time or place. Where is it at some other time, and how fast.
Hold an object on a ramp by pushing. Sketch free body force diagram. Determine magnitude and direction of all forces. If you stop pushing what is accel.
Atwood machine----MODIFIED (study up for lab). What is accel. Tension. How fast after some time or distance. How long to get some distance.
REMEMBER YOU PICK 3 OF THE 4 LONGER PROBLEMS. DO NOT DO ALL.
