Final Exam comments
You bring the equation sheet. 1 page, 8.5 x 11 inches. One side, handwritten.
The final is comprehensive. 10 questions (short) 10 points each---general course coverage. Then two longer 25 point problems---must do both (geometric optics and wave optics). Then a selection of 2 more 25 point problems from four choices.--pot luck.
To narrow things down here is a description.
Find E field given a placement of chargesssss. Charge to mass ratio. RC time problem. Simple circuit. Charge moving in a B field. Induced emf/Faradays law. Magnetism quantities and units. Refraction. Lens and image formation. Double slits.
Given a lens and object find image position, height, other properties. Be able to sketch as discussed.
Given info for an interference problem, find ratio of wavelength to slit size or spacing. Distance to screen. Wavelength, and positions of other fringes (than given). DO NOT LEAVE THIS BLANK.
Force on charge in an electric field. Changes in electric potential upon moving the charge. Kinetic energy if charge is allowed to move.
Kirchhoff circuit problem.
Given sources of magnetic field be able to add field vectors at a given point. Other locations too. And force on a charge moving in the field.
A refraction problem. Also know how to relate frequency, wave speed, wavelength, and index.
Thats it. Good luck. Study well
