Week 13 (Nov. 13)
Test 2 this week. Chs 11,12,13,14
There will be an in class portion. Two hours expected on Thursday. And out of class.
Up and coming hw. Ch. 15. Look back on the last hw and see if there is a comment you may not have read.
Ch. 15
Skip section 15.7 to end (may want to read, only a few pages)
Problems 1,5 (NOTE. The book does not mean the condition as written, rather they mean along a line for which b=g (that is beta=gamma if symbols don't show right). This corresponds to having b/l =W/q for small angles).
ALSO
A) Find the first five maxima (what observation angles for a single slit diffraction pattern) for a slit with width =0.05mm and wavelength of 500nm. Assume normally incident light.
B) Plot the intensity vs. observation angle for the case in A.
Note that on A and B you will need to work numerically. Do so with sufficient precision.
